Music To My Ears...

Last year I had written a brief essay on "Nihilism in Art and Life," specifically commenting on some forms of modern music that never really came across as "music to my ears." I was referring to "classical" music and the experimental strains that sought to "liberate" music from tonality. Parallels to similar acts of con-artistry can be seen in social / political realms as well.

Although a very similar theme is addressed in a recent essay by The Tanuki Ramble, The Tanuki and accompanying comments from Miles Hoffman have far surpassed anything I could have ever said on the issue.

If you love music, particularly "classical" music, this is required reading. Some excellent arguments for the cause of beauty, substance, and honesty, in music and in life.
